Mirota muncul pada tahun 1950 an, berembrio dari usaha kue kecil-kecilan kini berkembang menjadi berbagai jenis usaha yang bersaing. Adalah Tini Yuniati Hendro Sutikno wanita kelahiran Yogyakarta 24 Juni 1918 sosok dibalik lahir dan berkembangnya Mirota. Mengawali usaha di rumahnya FM. Noto 7 Yogyakarta Tini Yuniati beruntung memiliki teman seperti Bp. Kasmat Bahuwinangun dan Bp. R. M. Soesalit yang merupakan putra dari Raden Ajeng Kartini, dimana dari kedua temannya inilah Tini Yuniati bisa mendapat bantuan alat-alat yang digunakannya untuk membuat roti.

Dalam perjalanan waktu disertai dengan kerja keras dan laku prihatin yang sangat berat Tini Yuniati mengembangkan usahanya di kawasan Malioboro (sekarang menjadi Ramai Dept. Store). Dalam perkembangan inilah suami Tini Yuniati yakni Hendro Sutikno mencoba melebarkan sayap dengan membangun suatu perusahaan baru di bidang industri susu yang kemudian diberi nama PT.
